The Application Process

The IPFAS system was developed by the AIPPD to meet the growing demand of applicants and increasing number of interventional pulmonary fellowship programs.

Applying with AIPPD

IPFAS allows for a single secure application to multiple participating fellowship programs. Applications, supporting documents, and letter of recommendations can be uploaded into the IPFAS program. After registering with IPFAS, a unique code will be issued to the applicants for letters of reccomendations to be directly uploaded by letter writers (see instructions below).
Please review your application information and documents prior to confirming and sending to programs. Once your information is certified, it will not be possible to modify, delete, or add information to your application.

Applying with AIPPD

It is the applicant's responsibility to confirm the deadline dates and IPFAS participation for each individual program before you apply as this may be different for each program. Applicants wishing to apply to MD Anderson should contact their program director directly. The interview process including invitations for interviews will be managed by each individual program and not IPFAS. The match process will be conducted through the NRMP and requires separate registration, but some programs may be accepting applicants outside of the match system.

Applying with AIPPD

Application must be completed at one sitting, while the fee may be paid at a later time. The application will not be sent to programs until the fee is paid and your application is submitted. You may create an account and exit/ return with the same username/ password. However, the application information will NOT save your application information (i.e. exam dates, USMLE scores, etc.) after exiting. Please see below for all necessary documents. NRMP number is not required to submit application. IPFAS will remain open to new applications from June till 1 week after the NRMP match date (www.nrmp.org) to allow for unmatched applicants to apply to unmatched programs (scramble).

Applying with AIPPD

After the match date, applications may be made available to participating IPFAS unmatched programs.
Fee for IPFAS will depend on the number of applications to programs. $100 USD will allow applicants to setup and send applications to 8 different programs, with each additional program(s) being $10/ additional program. Fees can be submitted by credit card via Paypal. Once the application fee is paid, you may not update or add additional programs.
